Click! Nick\u2019s phone camera took a photo of his dog, Bear,
in a cute birthday hat, in front of a small dog cake. It had a big number seven on it, and it was blue and white with a \u00a0big German Shepherd rendition of Bear on the top of the cake. Bear had his tongue lolled out, and he eagerly
awaited his present that he knew Nick always got him every year for his birthday.<\/p>


– Good boy – Nick exclaimed.<\/p>


He wasn\u2019t surprised that Bear stayed still for the picture,
but he still felt like he should praise him for doing it
anyway.<\/p>


– I got you a present!- He reached into a small bag that
he bought that morning that had the words \u201cHappy
Birthday\u201d on it. Nick slowly pulled out a bone he got for
Bear and started to unwrap it for him. Once it was
unwrapped, he handed the bone to Bear, who took it out of his hand and started to chew it.<\/p>


– You don\u2019t even want the cake? I bought it just for you.-
Nick told Bear, as he gestured towards the lonely German
Shepherd face on the cake. – Maybe next time I should save your present for last.<\/p>


He took the cake and put it in the fridge for later. He
swept up the confetti that was sprinkled all over the tile
floor of the kitchen and threw it away.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Click! A c\u00e2mera do celular de Nick tirou uma foto do seu
cachorro, Bear, usando um chap\u00e9u de anivers\u00e1rio fofinho, na frente de um pequeno bolo de cachorro. Tinha um grande n\u00famero sete nele, e era azul e branco com uma grande reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o do pastor alem\u00e3o Bear em cima do bolo. Bear estava com sua l\u00edngua de fora,
e esperava ansiosamente pelo seu presente que ele sabia que Nick sempre lhe comprava todos os anos para o seu anivers\u00e1rio.<\/p>


– Bom garoto – Nick exclamou.<\/p>


Ele n\u00e3o ficou surpreso que Bear ficou im\u00f3vel para a foto, mas ele ainda achava que deveria elogi\u00e1-lo por fazer isso de qualquer forma.<\/p>


– Eu comprei um presente para voc\u00ea!- Ele enfiou a m\u00e3o em uma pequena sacola que ele comprou naquela manh\u00e3 que tinha as palavras “Feliz Anivers\u00e1rio” nela. Nick lentamente tirou um osso que ele comprou para Bear e come\u00e7ou a desembrulh\u00e1-lo para ele.
Uma vez que estava desembrulhado, ele entregou o osso para Bear, que o tirou de sua m\u00e3o e come\u00e7ou a mastig\u00e1-lo.<\/p>


– Voc\u00ea nem mesmo quer o bolo? Eu comprei ele s\u00f3 pra voc\u00ea. – Nick disse para Bear, enquanto apontava para o rosto do solit\u00e1rio pastor alem\u00e3o no bolo. -Talvez na pr\u00f3xima vez eu deva guardar o seu presente para o final.<\/p>

Ele pegou o bolo e colocou na geladeira para mais tarde. Ele varreu o confete que estava espalhado por todo o ch\u00e3o de azulejo da cozinha e o jogou fora.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Nick then went into the adjoining living room and sat
down in the chair in the center, while Bear gnawed on his
new bone.<\/p>

Nick clicked on the tv with the remote and switched it to
a game of football. Luckily, the Broncos were on and they
were in a close game with the Patriots. Nick switched to it just in time to see a long pass that made the Broncos get a touchdown. “This will be a good game to watch,” Nick thought. “With any luck, the Broncos will win and I can actually be proud of my home team for once.”<\/p>

Sometime later, Nick let Bear outside to use the
bathroom before they both went to bed. The Broncos
indeed did win, which left Nick in an invincible type of
mood; however, this would soon go away with what Nick
noticed about Bear. Bear wasn\u2019t coming in for some reason when Nick called for him. Confused, Nick walked out on the deck of his back porch and looked around his yard.<\/p>

-Bear!- Nick called for him aloud. -What\u2019s gotten into
you?<\/p>

Nick walked down the stairs of the porch and made his
way over to Bear, careful to avoid any landmines that might be present. Once he was near Bear, he saw he was eating the long grass.<\/p>

-You have a stomach-ache, bud?- He asked Bear, not
expecting a response. – I guess that bone really was good, huh?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Nick ent\u00e3o entrou na sala de estar conjugada e sentou-se na cadeira no centro, enquanto Bear ro\u00eda seu novo osso.<\/p>


Nick ligou a tv com o controle remoto e trocou para um
jogo de futebol americano. Por sorte, os Broncos estavam jogando e eles estavam em uma partida acirrada contra os Patriots. Nick mudou para o jogo na hora certa de ver um passe longo que fez os Broncos conseguirem um touchdown. \u201cEste vai ser um bom jogo para assistir,\u201d Nick pensou. \u201cCom um pouco de sorte, o Broncos v\u00e3o ganhar, e eu posso realmente ficar orgulhoso do meu time pelo menos desta vez.\u201d<\/p>


Um tempo depois, Nick deixou Bear sair para usar o
banheiro antes que ambos fossem para a cama. Os Broncos realmente venceram, o que deixou Nick com um tipo de humor inabal\u00e1vel; no entanto, esse humor logo iria embora com o que Nick notou sobre Bear. Bear n\u00e3o estava entrando por alguma raz\u00e3o quando Nick chamou por ele. Confuso, Nick saiu no deck de sua varanda dos fundos e examinou seu quintal.<\/p>


-Bear! – Nick chamou por ele em voz alta. – O que deu em
voc\u00ea?<\/p>

Nick desceu as escadas da varanda e foi em dire\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Bear, com cuidado para evitar alguma mina terrestre que poderia estar presente. Uma vez que ele estava perto de Bear, ele viu que ele estava comendo a longa grama.<\/p>


-Voc\u00ea est\u00e1 com dor de barriga amigo?- Ele perguntou a Bear, sem esperar uma resposta. – Eu acho que aquele osso realmente estava bom, hein?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Bear kept chewing and munching the grass. Nick had
seen this before and when Bear did it, he would usually feel better. He knew that dogs did this because their stomachs were upset.<\/p>


Nick left Bear chewing the grass and made his way back
up to the back door. He waited for Bear to finish and, about 3 minutes later, he let him inside. They both got a drink of water before making their way to Nick\u2019s bedroom for some sleep. Nick got in his bed after shutting off the lights to his room.<\/p>


-Good night, Bear,- he said to his dog and he turned to
fall asleep.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Bear continuou mastigando a grama. Nick tinha visto
isso antes, e quando Bear fazia isso, ele geralmente se
sentia melhor. Ele sabia que os c\u00e3es faziam isso porque
seus est\u00f4magos estavam doendo.<\/p>


Nick deixou Bear mastigando a grama e voltou para a
porta dos fundos. Ele esperou Bear terminar e, cerca de 3 minutos depois, o deixou entrar. Ambos beberam um pouco de \u00e1gua antes de irem para o quarto de Nick para dormir um pouco. Nick deitou em sua cama depois de desligar as luzes do seu quarto.<\/p>


-Boa noite, Bear- ele disse para seu cachorro e virou-se
